(Washington, DC) – The Office of Police Complaints (OPC) Executive Director Michael G. Tobin participated in a panel discussion today at the 2016 International Police Executive Symposium (IPES) in Washington, D.C.
The theme for this year’s symposium is “Urban Security: Challenges for 21st Century Global Cities.” Director Tobin was a panelist for the session “Models of Policing” where he discussed various models of civilian oversight agencies and the role they play in increasing police accountability.
“It was a great experience to speak about police accountability at the symposium today,” said Tobin. “I also enjoyed hearing different perspectives on models of policing from other panelists and what they are doing to increase community trust in their police departments.”
Additional panel discussion topics for the week-long symposium include urban policing, police use of force, law reform, and policing in a multicultural society.
