Board Member

Edward Sanders is an experienced external affairs and policy leader with a strong track record in public engagement, government relations, and strategic communications. He currently serves as Relationship Manager at the United Negro College Fund. Mr. Sanders also serves as the Director of Programming for Development and External Affairs at the Gloucester Institute. Additionally, he was appointed by the Governor of Virginia to serve on the Board of Visitors at Norfolk State University and has been serving in this role since July 2024. 

A Ward 1 resident, Mr. Sanders earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from Mississippi State University. Mr. Sanders was appointed by Mayor Muriel Bowser on April 20, 2026, and confirmed by the DC Council on July 14, 2026, for a term ending on January 12, 2028.
