Peter Durkin is a product management professional whose career reflects a distinctive combination of political experience and technology. His professional background spans CivicTech and GovTech companies, and the federal government and public sector. Mr. Durkin began his career on Capitol Hill, serving as an aide and fundraiser for senior Members of Congress, before transitioning into technology. Peter holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, in Political Science from Union College.
Mr. Durkin's civic and community engagement reflects a sustained commitment to Washington, DC's Ward 2 and the broader public good. He serves as a neighborhood safety point of contact and is an active community advocate, contributing regularly to beautification initiatives and neighbor assistance efforts. Mr. Durkin maintains strong ties to his educational institutions, serving as an Alumni Class Agent for Union College and as a Director on the high school’s Alumni Council. He is further recognized as a Friend of the Library of Congress, reflecting his enduring dedication to public knowledge, civic life, and institutional service. Mr. Durkin was appointed by Mayor Muriel Bowser on May 6, 2026, and confirmed by the DC Council on July 24, 2026, for a term ending on January 12, 2028.
